Hi Bannockburn Families –

Our summer swim season is in full force! We are thrilled to be kicking off some of our classic team traditions including our Friday morning donut breakfast at 10:00am this morning (and yes…it’s ok if you skipped morning practice and just rolled out of bed – you can still join us).

Tonight is a jam-packed evening, not to miss! First, join us tonight at 5:00-6:00pm for stroke and turn practice, and don’t forget those relay starts for our upcoming meet against Merrimack, tomorrow morning (please remember our Saturday meets are for swimmers that received a notification about being in the line-up).

After tonight’s practice, join Coach Lisa as she gives a short motivational chat to our swimmers just before diving into our first weekly Pasta Potluck Night. Please bring a dish to share (no glass please).

Don’t forget to pack your rafts, because Bannockburn’s very first Raft Night of the year begins tonight at 6:30-7:30pm. Raft Night is a beloved Bannockburn Pool tradition and this will be the first of the season. Come out with the zaniest rafts you can find. Don’t forget an electric pump!

Just a reminder that everyone is welcome to join us Saturday morning at 7:30am as we parade the short walk to Merrimack Pool wearing our team colors and cheering loudly as we make our way! I’m sure the neighbors won’t be thrilled with our early morning excitement – but we’ll certainly let them know who’s coming! While everyone is welcome to join in the parade, unfortunately, Merrimack has requested that we limit the number of spectators so we ask that only families of participating swimmers enter the pool deck.

Immediately after the meet, celebrate with your teammates at Potomac Pizza (19 Wisconsin Circle Chevy Chase, MD 20815). This is a fantastic way to meet new families AND help raise money for our team! Potomac Pizza will donate 20% of each order to Bannockburn.

Don’t forget to sign up for our upcoming Wednesday, June 23^rd - Meet Blue Vs. Yellow. This will be our last, but most memorable intra-squad (Bannockburn only) meet. All swimmers will be placed into the Blue OR Yellow team and each team will be fighting for the BIG WIN! This is another great way to make new friends on the team. The deadline to sign up for this meet is SUNDAY June 20^th. Due to the tremendous administration burden, we will NOT be accepting late entries so please sign up ASAP.

Huge shout out to our food and concessions committee! This powerhouse team including Fabiola Yurcisin and Michael Hyman have been working endlessly to keep our swimmers nourished. Below are some upcoming dates to remember:

**From the desk of the Covid Concierge**

Let’s not lose sight of our responsibility to keep swimmers safe while on the pool deck. We are all required to abide by the governing laws of the Bannockburn Pool 2021 Pledge & Waiver which states:

• If I or a family member is not vaccinated, it is recommended – not mandated – by the county to wear a mask when not in the water and practice social distancing while at the pool.

• I will supervise my children and group members so that safe interactions and social distancing can be maintained while at the pool

We need your help parents. During meets, Bannockburn volunteers will help keep swimmers socially distanced once they enter the Clerk of Course and will offer swimmers plastic bags to contain their masks while they swim. Parents, we ask that you supervise your swimmer and ensure that they follow these rules. If swimmers are unable to socially distance, please encourage unvaccinated swimmers to wear a mask. Please feel free to have unvaccinated children join in the team cheers from a distance or wear a mask.

Please remember, as we begin traveling for swim meets, each pool will have their own unique swim meet policy. As guests, we are required to follow these policies. We will share the swim meet policies for each pool before we travel each week.
