Types of Swim Meets

Our team participates in four main types of meets throughout the summer season:

  1. Time Trials - open to all swimmers
  2. Wednesday Evening “B” Dual Meets – open to all swimmers
  3. Saturday Morning “A” Dual Meets – for qualified swimmers
  4. Championship & Invitational Meets – for top performers in our Division and MCSL

Whether your swimmer competes on Wednesdays, Saturdays, or both, we’re one team with one goal: having fun and supporting each other!

⏱ Time Trials

When: The Saturday before the first “A” Meet

Who: All team members

What: An intra-squad meet where swimmers can race in any strokes they choose

Why:

  • Establishes baseline times for seeding in upcoming “A” Meets
  • Helps swimmers set personal goals for the season
  • Builds team spirit and meet-day confidence

🌙 Wednesday “B” Dual Meets

When: Wednesday evenings for 4 weeks

Who: Open to all swimmers, regardless of experience or times

What: Dual meets against other MCSL teams

Events:

  • Up to 3 individual strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly)
  • 1 Individual Medley (IM)

Why:

  • Great opportunity to improve times
  • Chance to qualify for Saturday “A” Meets
  • Fun, low-pressure environment to gain meet experience

☀️ Saturday “A” Dual Meets

When: Saturday mornings for 5 weeks

Who: Qualified swimmers based on fastest times

Events:

  • Top 3 swimmers per non-freestyle event
  • Top 6 swimmers in freestyle
  • Each swimmer may compete in up to 3 individual events + 1 IM + 1 relay

How It Works:

  • The head coach shares the qualifying roster each week
  • If your swimmer is listed but cannot attend, notify the coach ASAP so another swimmer can fill the spot
  • Parents of Saturday swimmers are expected to volunteer at the meet
