Hi Dolphins –

Could you feel the energy today? Our swimmers were pumped up and ready to crush the meet against our neighborhood rivals, Merrimack. For the first time in five years, Bannockburn won a dual meet against Merrimack!  The meet ended with Coach Malena getting dragged into the pool with the entire team as they celebrated their victory. We celebrated our favorite seniors, Sophie Duncan, Andrew O’Brien and Jacob Seiberg with our famous Senior Sendoff Ceremony. Stephanie Curcuru, our long-time automation guru officially created her last meet program, printed and cut her last timers sheets, and collated the last meet results (attached). Stephanie passed the torch (and off-loaded 1-laptop and 2-printers) after decades of carting this equipment back and forth to the pool. Stephanie, we have never appreciated the work of automation more and you will be very missed. Thank you. We also have to give a shoutout to Shelly O’Brien, long-time Bannockburn Team Rep! Shelly is literally responsible for EVERYTHING from registration, to finances, to each and every muffin or ice-cold water bottle passed out to our volunteers. Shelly is the heart and soul of this team and we will only begin to understand how much she does for this team when we forget to do it next year!

Huge thanks to the Bannockburn Swim Team for providing an extensive spread from Chiptole. I don’t even think we made a dent in those chips! Speaking of Chiptole…we would be remiss if we didn’t give a shoutout to our very own Chiptole Delivery Volunteer, Paul Levine. Paul literally waited at Chiptole for hours (many of them) while they completed our team order – and after all that – manage to return with a smile! We feel your pain Paul – thank you!

Speaking of the Team Luncheon, we were very thankful for all our volunteers that helped serve the food quickly and safely. However, we were a bit disappointed with the mess that was left after the lunch. Soggy chips on the ground, plates and waste left on the tables – and only a handful of volunteers that helped with clean up. We know it was a particularly long day, but we know we can do better next time. Speaking of next time – we will get a chance to redeem ourselves during Wednesday’s B-Meet BBQ. We’ve got this Bannockburn.
