Three for Three - Weekly Bannockburn Updates 7/1
Three for Three (by only three)! Let me break it down…we’ve won three of three A-Meets, our victory against Old Farm on Saturday was by just three points! Three cheers for our incredible Badmus Duo (David and Joshua) and their jaw dropping performance of the Star-Spangled Banner!
Monday, July 1st @ 5pm – DEADLINE - Signup for Wednesday night B-Meet Somerset @ Bannockburn. Entries close at 5pm sharp. If you’d like your swimmer to attend, please sign up 2024 Schedule - Bannockburn Dolphins (swimtopia.com).
**SWIMMER ELIGIBILTY**: Swimmers are restricted to three events + Individual Medley (and must be legal). However, if your swimmer placed top 3 during Saturday’s A-Meet, they may NOT swim that same event on Wednesday. No on-deck entries or changes – so sign up today.
Wednesday, July 3rd @ 5pm – B-Meet Somerset @ Bannockburn (that's a HOME MEET for those zoning right about now)! Warmups start at 5:00pm. Wondering how you can help? We need a verifier. Help the team by double checking swimmers' times while sitting near the computer station). We also need a “clerk of course” line the kids up in their heats/lanes and an assistant clerk of course. Sign up HERE.
Let’s face it, dinner is impossible to plan on Wednesday night! No worries – we’ve planned for the Philly Cheesesteak Food Truck to be on-sight.
Thursday, July, 4th - Morning Practice ONLY (no afternoon practice). Join us as we host the Mohican Swim Team for a Beaver show down! We promise there will be other fun activities for the younger swimmers.
Friday, July 5th @ 6pm – Pasta Night and Bingo Party! By now you know the drill – just bring the food, wear the gloves, and use the tongs. Last weeks’ karaoke will be hard to beat, but Bingo could bring some tough competition.
Saturday, July 6th – A-Meet @ Merrimack. If you don’t know, this IS the dual meet of the year. Merrimack is our closest neighborhood pool, and the rivalry is real. The Merrimack Maniacs? Need I say more? In traditional Bannockburn fashion, we WILL gather at Bannockburn before the meet and literally parade to the Maniacs pool. There’s a good chance we will wake the entire neighborhood, so can someone please post a warning on the list-serv?! Parade details coming soon! After the meet, we will gather back at Bannockburn to celebrate Charlie Stenberg’s 13th birthday with pizza! Huge thanks to Emily West for organizing.
Sunday, July 7th – Relay Carnival @ Seven Locks Pool – Swimmers will be selected by coaches to participate in the A-Relay Carnival on Sunday. Please indicate your availability HERE. Coaches will let families know if their swimmer has been selected. Fun fact – winning relays punch their ticket to All-Star Relays! Good luck swimmers.
Wednesday, July 17th - Bannockburn Relays - Prepare for fun, team relays! Please RSVP HERE by Monday, July 8th @ 5 pm.
Calling all self-proclaimed Sizzlin’ Grill Enthusiasts! We are looking for a few good BBQ experts to flip some burgers during our Senior Celebration during our very last Saturday, A-meet on July 13th. Please let us know if you’d like to claim a spatula.
2-4-6-8 Who Do We Appreciate?
Seyi Badmus – Do you even know “whistle protocol”? Seyi Badmus one of our expert team referees, signaling to the swimmers to get ready by a short series of whistles, followed by a long whistle indicating that they should take their positions near the edge of the pool. Then with skill and grace, Seyi outstretches her arm to the Starter indicating that the swimmers are ready. Seyi was the single most important officiating role during Saturdays meet because the referee has full control of enforcing the rules. No pressure Seyi!
Arlington Duncan – Sporting his brand-new Stroke and Turn outfit, Arlington had to maintain complete professional composure while standing in the flip-turn splash zone. Hopefully his shoes have dried out by now. The meet could NOT have gone on without our newest Stroke and turn judge Arlington – thank you!
Mary Clare and John Claud – We don’t want to give John ALL the credit, since we know it was Mary Clare’s idea – but HUGE thanks to John Claud for taking several trips to chipotle to secure the team’s lunch and dealing with those pesky Chipotle points!
Jennifer Hass – Wondering how your swimmer arrived on-time, in the correct lane for their event? Look no further than Jennifer Hass - she owned that pool on Saturday, escorting swimmers to both sides of the pool for various whirlwind events!
Amy and Emmet Conroy - With all three kids out of town, what did these dedicated volunteers do? Spent their entire day with the team! That's the magic of Bannockburn - a community at it's very best!
