Swim Team Registration and Reminders

Quiz: How many weeks until the very first 2025 Bannockburn Summer Swim Team practice?

Answer: 6-WEEKS!

Bannockburn Swim Team Registration is OPEN! Have you signed-up yet?

What is the most frequently asked question? Should my child join the pre-team or swim team? Here are the facts:

  • Competition Swim Team - All swimmers on the competition team must be able to complete one lap of freestyle across the pool. If your child is 8 & under and/or new to the team, they must complete an in-water evaluation PRIOR to registering for the team. These evaluations will take place at our "Back to Pool" event on Sunday, May 18th at Bannockburn Pool. Can’t make it? Absolutely no worries - we are super flexible.
  • Pre-Team - If you have a younger swimmer (aged 5--8), comfortable blowing bubbles, kicking on the wall or with a kickboard, the Bannockburn pre-team is a great choice. Pre-teamers must be five years old before June 1, 2025. The Pre-Team runs from mid-June through mid-July, and culminates with the Annual Pre-Team Meet!

True or False: We were OVERWHELMED with responses to our request for volunteers. Answer: FALSE - but it’s not too late! We are looking for the following volunteers:

  • Do you love nourishing hungry swimmers? Do you believe food affects mood and performance? Then Hospitality is the opportunity for you! The Hospitality Team plans concessions for the @ Bannockburn Pool swim meets. The team also helps plan our famous Friday night team pasta dinners!
  • Are you good under pressure, can you easily recognize faces and names? Clerk of Course (officially voted the most bizarre name) - your role will be lining up swimmers based on their heat and lane assignments.
  • Plot twist…we know your kids aren’t expecting this one…do you want the most VIP seat (actually you’d be standing) in the house (with the coolest outfit?). Please consider supporting the team by becoming a Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL) Stroke and Turn Judge, Starter, or even a Referee (experience required) by taking an online clinic (starting May 19th). It doesn’t take much time, and we really need you! Check out MCSL’s schedule to REGISTER for virtual training clinics.

  • Are there any party planners in the house? For those nostalgic for your old school party days we really need your help. Please consider joining our Banquet Committee to help the team plan and prepare for our Awards Banquet on Saturday, July 19th @ Bannockburn Pool.
  • Sadly, your A and B team-reps will need to pass the torch…someday…we’d love to work with our swim-loving leaders to ensure a “streamline” transition.
  • Are you type A? Great with computers/data entry? Do you love watching meets from the shade? Sounds like you’d be a great candidate for Automation! The Automation Team is responsible for entering data, i.e. swimmers times, into the database!

Save the Date for Sunday, May 18th as our Back To Pool Event to meet swim team families, complete in-water assessments, purchase hot new merchandise and team suit fittings. Can’t make it? No problem - optional team suits can be purchased at Sport Fair in Arlington and assessments can be conducted later.

VINTAGE TEAM MERCHANDISE STORE IS OPEN! Check out our online store and place your order by May 10th. It’s your LAST chance to order a personalized cap!

BRAND NEW - 2025 Merchandise will be featured at the Back to Pool Event on May 18th.
