2026 Registration + Upcoming Events + Opportunities
Hi Bannockburn Swim Families,
Will it reach 90 degrees outside today? There’s no denying that summer is quickly approaching and your ALL VOLUNTEER Swim Team Committee is hard at work to make the summer of 2026 YOUR swimmers best summer ever!
If you’ve been receiving the Bannockburn Swim Team emails for any length of time - you know that one of my favorite things to do is “encourage” families to get involved with the swim team (and by “encourage”, I actually mean persistently remind you until someone volunteers). Quick reality check: Bannockburn Swim Team doesn’t magically run itself. The good news is - it actually doesn’t take much to keep things going, and...wait for it...
There are some very low-stress, totally doable roles open this summer!
There’s no easy way to say it - current reps are starting to phase out (kids are getting older) and we’re looking for a few new volunteers to step in. Think of it less as “big commitment” and more of showing up and lending an extra hand and helping with some tasks before and after meets.
Open Roles (NO PREREQUISITES REQUIRED)
B-Rep Apprentice for 2027
- Coordinate ~6 B meets (already scheduled for summer 2026)
- Attend Wednesday B-evening meets (stay till the end)
- Ensure all volunteer roles are filled
- Help with a few social events
A-Rep Apprentice for 2027
- Coordinate ~6 A meets
- Attend Saturday A-Meets
- Be a point person for coaches + logistics
- Help with team events
Concessions Volunteers (Could this be the most appreciated role on the team?)
- Home meets only
- Order snacks/drinks (Instacart = done)
- Set prices + run the table during meets
- Organize Friday morning donuts
Stroke & Turn Official (Guaranteed VIP Viewing Stations)
- Front-row view of every race
- Help ensure swimmers are following stroke rules
- Requires a quick, easy clinic training to get certified (Clinic Registration Open)
- Comes with a hot new outfit to wear on deck
- Minimal time, surprisingly fun, and you’ll sound very official when explaining it to others
Automation Helper (shade + numbers = win)
- Enter swimmer times into the system during meets
- Double-check everything is accurate
- Work at a quick pace, usually from a nice shady spot
- Perfect if you like numbers, staying organized, and not standing in the sun
Time Commitment
We promise you aren't signing your life away - we ask for about a 2-year commitment, mainly so you can learn it once and then cruise control.
If you’ve ever thought “I could probably help, but I don’t want anything stressful,” this is your jam. Want to help but not sure where you fit? Let us know - we’ll conduct a quick assessment of your skill set and match you to the best role.
Reminders:
- Register your swimmers
- Order personalized caps - deadline April 30
- Back to Pool Event - May 24
-Your 100% Volunteer Bannockburn Swim Team Committee
